Dr. Polly Peterson is the President of the University of Jamestown, a distinguished leader in higher education and a dedicated member of the Jamestown community. Her career is marked by a steadfast commitment to academic excellence, institutional growth, and community engagement.

Dr. Peterson earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Jamestown in 1989, graduating summa cum laude with dual degrees in Accounting and Business Administration. She was also named a College Fellow in both areas of study. In 2000, she completed her Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Regis University. Polly began her professional career in public accounting with EideBailly, before joining the University of Jamestown as Controller and later as a Professor of Accounting. Her leadership trajectory at the University of Jamestown includes serving as Vice President for Institutional Advancement (2006), overseeing development and alumni relations, and then as Executive Vice President (2014), where she managed both Business Affairs and Institutional Advancement.

In 2017, Polly Peterson was named the 14th President of the University of Jamestown—the first woman to hold this role in the University’s history. Dr. Henry Cloud is an acclaimed leadership expert, clinical psychologist and New York Times bestselling author. His 46 books, including the iconic Boundaries, have sold over 20 million copies worldwide. He has an extensive executive coaching background and experience as a leadership consultant, devoting the majority of his time working with CEOs, leadership teams, and executives to improve performance, leadership skills and culture.

Dr. Cloud founded and built a healthcare company starting in 1987, which operated inpatient, and outpatient treatment centers in forty markets in the Western U.S. There, he served as Clinical Director and principal for ten years. Chris Hoke is the Chief Informational Officer at the University of Jamestown, serving in that capacity for nine years. He has over 28 years of experience in the field of information technology (all spent at UJ) as well as other areas of interest. Chris was instrumental in helping the University of Jamestown form the first collegiate Esports program in North Dakota as Technical Director for five years. He has taught in UJ’s Character in Leadership program for 15 years, delighting in helping students see their potential as servant leaders at work and in their community. He is a strategic leader who has claimed his seat at the table by serving in the president’s cabinet and has built relationships across the institution to improve student experiences and fulfill the school’s mission.

Elizabeth K. Hunt is the Executive Director of the Unruh School of Character in Leadership and Professor of Leadership at the University of Jamestown in Jamestown, ND. Hunt holds a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership from Regent University, a Master of Arts in Communication from NDSU, and a Bachelor of Arts in History-Political Science and English from the University of Jamestown. Dr. Hunt has consulted for small non-profits and educational entities for over 20 years, focusing on strategy, organizational culture, and leadership development. In addition, she has actively coached emerging and seasoned leaders individually and in group settings. Her primary research areas include leadership communication, organizational culture and climate, and character-based leadership education and development.  

Dr. Jorge Salcedo holds a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership with a specialization in Human Capital Development from Regent University, and two master degrees: one in Leadership Studies from the University of Victoria (Canada) and another in Communication Sciences from the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (Mexico). He is the cofounder of the Student Leadership Center at the Universidad de Monterrey (UDEM). Dr. Salcedo has served as an executive trainer for a wide range of organizations. Currently, Dr. Salcedo works as a consultant, coach, and fullgraduate business programs. He previously served as d undergraduate programs in Strategic Human Capital Management and Business Administration.

Dr. Astrid Garza holds an Ed.D. in Character Education with a specialization in social and emotional competency development from Regent University, USA. She also earned two master’s degrees: one in Educational Psychology and another in Leadership Studies from the University of Victoria (Canada). She has provided training and consulting services to a wide range of organizations. Her professional experience extends internationally; she has led leadership and emotional intelligence workshops at numerous conventions and her research on the topic has been published in international academic journals. She currently works as a full time professor at Universidad de Monterrey.

Dr. Paul Olson joined the University of Jamestown in the summer of 2014 after teaching sociology at Briar Cliff University for nine years and serving as the Chair of the Division of Social and Behavioral Sciences.

Since coming to the University of Jamestown, Provost Olson have overseen the development of several new academic programs, including the Ph.D. in Clinical Research, masters’ degrees in Teacher Leadership, Clinical Counseling, and Leadership, and bachelors’ degrees in Mechanical and Civil Engineering, Digital Design, and Behavioral Health. He has also played important roles in the expansion of the University of Jamestown in Fargo, North Dakota, and to Phoenix, Arizona, and the establishment of the Unruh School of Character in Leadership.

Dr. Olson earned a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Nebraska with specializations in the sociology of religion and racial, ethnic, and gender inequality. His research has been published in the Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion, Innovative Higher Education, The Journal of Popular Culture, and the Journal of Religion and Society. Prior to earning his Ph.D., Dr. Olson completed a master’s degree in religious studies from the University of Kansas and a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Northern Iowa.

Provost Olson and his wife, Teresa, have three daughters: Phoebe, Siddha, and Daphne.

Dr. Seth Stone is an Associate Professor of Leadership and the Doctoral Project Coordinator at the University of Jamestown in Jamestown, ND, USA. His corporate career began on Wall Street and extended into nonprofit executive leadership roles, spanning more than 20 years. He has also spent 16 years in higher education, the last 11 as a faculty member. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed research articles and book chapters, and his research interests include the practical application of leadership theory, organizational behavior, and the intersection of cognitive science and leadership. Dr. Stone holds a Doctor of Strategic Leadership and an MBA from Regent University, a B.S. in Management & Business from Skidmore College, and is currently completing an MSc in Applied Neuroscience at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology, and Neuroscience (IoPPN) at King’s College London. He is also a Certified Professional Coach and a Senior Certified HR Professional through the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
